MMS Seventh Grader Competes in World Chess CompetitionMason Middle School seventh grader Jason Wang recently played at the World Cadets Chess Championship U12 in Spain  as one of the USA Chess Team members.

This is the third time that Wang played the most important annual tournament in his age group, as one of the top chess players in the country.

"It is a great honor to compete with chess prodigies from around the world," shared Jason's father, Shanwu. "He was so close to being champion last time that he trained even harder this year to chase his dream."

Jason placed eighth of of 11 competitors in the U-12 division, which has over 200 players from 63 countries.

"What an incredible accomplishment!" said MMS Principal, Lauren Gentene. "It takes a lot of courage for a young man to challenge himself like that. We are so very proud of him for competing at such a high level."
