MMS Student Council completes 'Operation Gratitude'The Mason Middle School Student Council recently completed 'Operation Gratitude' to show appreciation for our Troops and First Responders as part of the school's #MMSRipple - which encourages students to create a Comet Culture that spreads kindness.

MMS Student Council created Paracord 'Survival' Bracelets that not only look cool, but can actually save a life in an emergency situation. All who serve use paracord, which gets its name from a parachute cord, and that can hold up to 550 lbs. of weight. The bracelet provides 7.5 feet of cord in an emergency.

A few ways the cord can be used it to build a makeshift shelter, make a sling or splint, create a harness, or to haul heavy objects.

"Our hope is to include one Paracord “Survival” Bracelet in each of our Deployed Troop and New Recruit Care Packages, and in the First Responder Care Kits," shared Student Council Advisor Lisa Fish.

The supplies for the bracelets were purchased through the MMS Student Council budget, which is made up of fees paid by its members.
