WR Shows that Kindness Rocks!Kindness rocks are springing up all over Mason thanks to Western Row third graders!

These WR students created kindness rocks to bring home and hide, or give to someone to brighten their day. The idea is simple: paint inspirational messages on rocks and randomly leave them across Mason for others to find and then re-hide. The messages on the rocks are aimed at spreading hope and phrases like, “You’ve got this” or “Be Brave.” They also may include pictures that are motivational.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these little gems in the Mason area. When you find a rock, post a picture to the Mason City Schools Facebook page and use the hashtag #cometsrock2027. Then, re-hide the rock in a new location to continue spreading kindness!

"I have two boys of my own who have found many kindness rocks in our community and the rocks seemed to find us when we needed it the most!" shared WR third grade teacher Corri Doenecke. "It definitely helped to lift their spirits and our hope with this project would be to help change someone's outlook into a positive one."

The Kindness Rocks project's goal is to inspire others through random acts of kindness, while encouraging students to be Difference Makers.

The third graders were very enthusiastic about being Difference Makers in our community, and they are excited to see where their rocks may travel.

"We want to thank Mrs. Kerry Kronenberger, our amazing art teacher, who helped students paint around 800 rocks!" added Doenecke. "She helped to make our idea a reality!"

The Kindness Rocks project was started through the idea that one message at just the right time can change a day, outlook, or even a life. The belief is that kindness spreads kindness.
