"This was a pilot year and each Spanish I teacher at MMS submitted the names of 15-20 students who agreed to take the test this year," shared MMS Spanish teacher and Spanish Club Co-Advisor Heidi Morrissey. "The exam is broken down into two parts: performance and proficiency."

Fellow MMS Spanish teacher Lauren Richardson and Morrissey met with these selected students several times to help prepare them in the weeks leading up to the test administration dates on March 20 and 21.

"We are absolutely thrilled with their performance and would like to discuss the possibility of honoring the top performers at the district level!" added Morrissey.

Sixty-five MMS students took the Level 1 National Spanish Exam, and 27 of those students received a gold medal, 21 received a silver, 11 received a bronze, and six received an honorable mention.
